The History of Rasselas, Prince of Abyssinia

Rasselas allegorizes the irresolvable question - where can happiness be found? Johnson sends Rasselas and his companions on a search outside their Utopian community for happiness, but the band discovers only the continual conflict between desire and possibility. Knight's Dinarbus continues the quest, adding issues of cultural, gender and class difference, to inquire if the "choice of life" is equally available to everyone.
